Unofficial or not, National Burger Day might be the most aptly named American food holiday created.
Coinciding perfectly with the warming weather, the burger is best enjoyed with cold beverages and good friends at a park picnic, by the pool or on a lakeside dock. Since the early twentieth century, Americans have been consuming some combination of beef patty, bun, onion, lettuce, tomato, pickles and a variety of condiments like ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, BBQ sauce and more.
